Denton Drive Live! Brings Great Food & Music to The Grove

Updated: May 5, 2022

It’s no secret that great food goes with great music, and the May 14 Denton Drive Live! in Farmers Branch is guaranteed to deliver on both! The award-winning event kicks off it's 2nd concert at The Grove at Mustang Station with two amazing bands and two amazing food trucks – Cherry Bomb and Graceland Ninjaz deliver the musical vibes, and J Wok and Dallas Grilled Cheese Co deliver the eats!

Farmers Branch resident Jay Vellenuva owns J Wok and just started his food truck business in February of 2022. He offers Filipino deep-fried pork belly and Teriyaki Chicken along with Beef Bulgogi.

He has always enjoyed cooking for large groups but didn’t like the traditional confines of a brick-and-mortar restaurant, so he opted for a food truck that allowed him the mobility he desired. When asked how he chose his cuisine, Jay replied “I have been working in the South Dallas area for several years and realized that there's no Asian restaurant around the area. I didn't want just a specific type of Asian cuisine so I decided to have a Mixed Asian Food Truck so South Dallas could taste what Asian food offers besides the typical Chinese restaurant.”

Jay’s reach now extends beyond South Dallas and he’s thrilled to bring all of North Texans his wide-ranging menu of great Asian food. “Owning a food truck is not a cakewalk,” says the entrepreneur, “especially if you trying to do this with a full-time job like me. There's no boring time because you're able to meet new people since you're in a different place each day.” Be sure to stop by J Wok and enjoy a taste of Asian cuisine.

The concept of a grilled cheese restaurant was on the dream list of owner Diana Ezzell for decades before it became a reality. Now, it is a family friendly restaurant AND food truck that is bringing cheesy goodness to customers around the metroplex.

The Dallas Grilled Cheese Co is dedicated to reimagining the perfect comfort food, grilled cheese sandwiches. They filled a niche in the Dallas-Fort Worth restaurant landscape seven years ago with its signature grilled cheese sandwich offerings. Since then, the DGCC has been a hit around the metroplex!

The flagship DGCC restaurant is in the historic Bishop Arts District and four years ago the Dallas Grilled Cheese Co Mockingbird Station was opened. With two successful brick and mortar restaurants, the owners decided to take a leap for encouraging customers and start a food truck.

Highlights from food truck menu are these customer favorites:

  • The Cattleman’s: Great grilled cheese with brisket

  • The Rustic: Three-cheese sandwich with yellow cheddar, gouda and muenster cheeses – perfect for a vegetarian option.

  • The Dude: A sloppy Joe grilled cheese with original Manwich sauce.

  • Food Truck Exclusive: BBQ Pulled Pork grilled cheese.

  • Plus awesome DGC parmesan-dusted fries, house-made chips and tomato basil soup.
