From Chicago to Texas, this “blues” highway runs through Denton Drive!

Make plans to hit Denton Drive Live on Saturday, July 9, as two veteran, Texas-based acts take the stage to deliver a rock ‘n’ soul concert experience steeped in the blues. It’s The Texas Bluesmen – the Ultimate Blues Brothers Experience followed by Texas Flood with their rousing and spot-on tribute to the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan.

What started in 1978 as a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live fronted by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, this American blues and soul revivalist band spawned a hit

comedy movie complete with their trademark matching black suits, fedoras, and sunglasses.

Fast forward to 2022, and although Farmers Branch might be 800 miles from Sweet Home Chicago, The Texas Bluesmen – the Ultimate Blues Brothers Experience takes their audiences on a live (no track) journey through the American music catalog made famous by Belushi & Aykroyd. Grab your dark sunglasses and prepare to be entertained!

Capping off the evening, Tommy Katona and Texas Flood will take the stage. This DDL crowd favorite is THE premier blues band in all of North Texas

and brings a raw, in-your-face show that takes the audience on an unforgettable and soulful journey through the blues. Evolving from the original tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood pours through their own music and style and pays tribute to legends such as SRV and Jimi Hendrix as well as a nod to the future of the blues.

As an added touch to the night, the iconic Bluesmobile will be on hand for photo ops - be sure and tag us at #dentondrivelive when you post to your social accounts.

The Denton Drive Live! gates open at 6 p.m. and The Texas Bluesman will kick off the evening at 6:15 p.m. Texas Flood follows at 8:30 p.m. and will keep the music flowing until 10 p.m.! All of this takes place at the Grove at Mustang Station, 12700 Denton Drive.

There will be lawn games for the entire family in our Game Zone, and food and drinks are available for purchase. Speaking of delicious eats, July’s featured food trucks are Dallas Grilled Cheese and Luiege’s Pizza Truck.

And nothing feels quite like summer more than Tikiz Shaved Ice & Ice Cream, so don’t forget to leave room for dessert! And we’ve got you covered for your adult libations, Nuevo Leon Mex Mex Restaurant will be selling wine and beer as well as their signature frozen Winearita!

Make your plans now you and your friends won’t want to miss this FREE and exciting outdoor concert!
